Schedule of Election Events:
February 28th - Petitions for Officers are available for pick up at the union office.
March 4th - Candidate Question and Answer Zoom Meeting - 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, presented by the Election Committee. The Election Committee will be available to answer questions about the Election Rules and procedures for prospective and potential candidates.
April 1st - deadline for submitting nomination petitions, consent to be a candidate, candidate statement, and photograph.
April 21st - on or about Candidate Statements will be available online for members to view. Ballots will be mailed to the membership so they can cast their vote.
May 1st - Candidates Forum - MCAAP 30 West Gude Dr, Rockville MD 20850 - 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Candidates will be allowed to present their statement to the membership.
May 15th - Election of Officer Ballot Count - Bohrer Park Activity Center, 506 S Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. The process for the ballot count for the Election of Officers begins at 9:00 AM. See Election Rules regarding observers.

Qualifications for Running for Office:
Candidates for the offices of President, Executive Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer must be members of the organization in good standing for a period not less than 24 months immediately preceding their nomination.
Candidates for Vice President may be any member in good standing but must be members of the Chapter or Division represented by that office. Vice presidents are elected only by members in good standing of the Chapter or Division represented by that Vice President.
No person who has been convicted of a felony as defined in Section 504 of the Landrum-Griffin Act (or an indictable offense in Canada) shall, in accordance with the provisions of applicable law, be eligible to hold office in the local union.
Who Can Vote?
Only members in good standing (must be paying dues) as of April 4, 2025, will receive a ballot to cast their vote.
Ballots will be mailed to the eligible member’s home address.
Nomination Process:
Nominations for officers open on Friday, February 28, 2025, and close on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Petitions to run for office can be picked up at the union office beginning at 9:00 a.m. on February 28, 2025.
Only petitions with original hand-written signatures will be accepted by the Committee. Faxed or emailed petitions will not be allowed.
Only hand-written signatures of members in good standing will be counted.
Other Highlights:
In the event an office is uncontested, the eligible nominees for such position(s) shall be deemed elected without the necessity for further procedures.
Voting shall be done by secret mail ballot and the election to each office shall be determined by a plurality of votes cast. Members in good standing will receive a ballot that will be mailed to their home address.
Officers elected shall take office on July 1 of the election year and be formally installed during the first membership meeting in September of the election year.
TrueBallot, Inc. will conduct the tally of all eligible membership secret ballot votes and certify the election results.
